It is very important that you understand that some aspects of Vontastic 911 Emergency Service work differently than 911 Emergency services on traditional landline phones. It is very important to us that we provide you with 911 Emergency Service in the event that you need it and that emergency personnel will have access to the information they need to assist you.
The primary difference is location. It is very important that you maintain your "911 Emergency Address" with us at all times. When you first became a customer of Vontastic, you gave us the address where you would have Vontastic service working, in other words, the physical location where the Vontastic BOX would be used.
It is critical that if you move your Vontastic service or the BOX from the location you gave us that you update us with the new "911 Emergency Address" where the Vontastic BOX will be used. You can update us online by logging into your customer account and choosing "Update my 911 Address" on the right hand side of the screen. Alternatively, you can call Customer Service at 1-866-486-9929 and ask us to change your 911 Emergency Address for you. It may take several hours to finalize the updating of your moved location to all the necessary 911 systems.
Based on your location and the deployment of VOIP 911 services in your area (which is outside of our control), you may have "Enhanced 911" or "Basic 911" or not have 911 Service available at all. In the event your area has Enhanced 911, your location information and phone number will be transmitted to the emergency response center assigned to your location. With Basic 911, the emergency response center will not have your location information or your phone number, so you must be prepared to provide this information and if you don't give or can't give the emergency response center the information they require to help you, they may not be able to provide emergency response.
For our customers who use their Vontastic service from areas that are not equipped to provide 911 services, or from locations where the address can't be validated, or are using highly portable devices such as Soft-Phones or USB Phones, 911 calls will be routed to a National Emergency Response Center or "ECRC." Like Basic 911, ECRC personnel will need your location information and phone number and will provide response in the same manner as Basic 911.
